Rev Father Andrew Abayomi, a priest at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owa luwa Street, Owo, Ondo State, has recounted the terrorist attack on the church on Sunday.
This was revealed by the cleric while chatting with BBC Yoruba. “We were about to end service,” he explained. I had even advised others to leave, but suddenly we heard gunfire coming from all directions. ”
“We took refuge inside the church, although several individuals had already departed when the incident occurred.” For 20 minutes, we were confined to the church. We opened the chapel and took the victims to the hospital as soon as we learned they had departed ”
The incident was described as “evil” by the clergyman. The Most Reverend Jude Arogundade, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ondo, has denounced the horrible killings of church members.
In a statement signed by the Rev. Fr. Augustine Ikwu, Director, Social Communications, which was acquired by SaharaReporters on Sunday, the priest said: “Every Catholic is urged to attend Mass on Pentecost Sunday to honor the Solemnity.”
